Dave Bautista Needs to Play Lex Luthor in the Dcu

Could Dave Bautista be the next Lex Luthor on the big screen? Well, the actor is interested, so now this ball is in James Gunn’s playing field. Bautista is certainly no stranger to superhero movies, having worked with Gunn on three Guardians of the Galaxy films as well as a holiday special. He also reprised his role as Drax the finisher in other MCU movies, including last year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, but said he’s done playing that character now.

Could Bautista venture into the next DCU to continue in superhero movies? This is very possible if Gunn records his plans to build the DCU with his colleague Peter Safran from DC Studios. And Bautista even has his sights set on Lex Luthor as the character he would most like to play after seeing the proposal from ComicBook.com the journalist Chris finishian.

In response to the online message, Bautista said: “I never thought of that! And now I can’t stop thinking about it.”

Continue talking to Liam Crowley about ComicBook.com about the possible casting choice, Bautista talked about why Lex Luthor is appealing to him. He admits that the idea never crossed his mind before seeing this picture, but when the idea appeared, Bautista was sold on the possibility. He even wants Gunn to know that he is 100 percent on board to take on this role and clearly hopes to be considered for the Superman reboot.

“I just never thought about playing this character,” says Bautista. “As soon as I saw this picture of me next to Lex Luthor, I thought, ‘Man, this is really interesting. “This is interesting to me. I’d be totally ready for that, James Gunn.”

But What About Bane?

In recent years, Bautista had campaigned for the role of Bane in a Batman movie. However, now he has put this idea to rest, feeling that now it’s too after to be a good candidate for the role. He says in an insider interview that he actually talked to Gunn about possibly playing Bane, but at 54, Bautista is not quite sure that he could do justice to this role, as he could a few years ago, and agrees that a younger actor should be considered for this role.

“They have to start planning the next 15 years, and I just don’t think they can do that with me. And I understand that,” says Bautista. “And besides, I have to say that I appreciate that because I don’t want to play a character that I can’t do justice to.

I don’t think at this point in my career that I can do Bane justice. I just don’t know if I could handle the body part, and I don’t think I would have the longevity to plan movies in advance. So I don’t know if I would be that guy.”

Apparently, many important announcements regarding Gunn’s plans for DCU are imminent. We will know very soon if Superman news is part of these announcements, and there is a possibility that Bautista is dressing up as Lex Luthor to be a part of it.
